20:1Â For the kingdom of
heaven is like unto a man that
is an householder, which went
out early in the morning to hire
labourers into his vineyard |
 20:2 And when he had
agreed with the labourers for a
penny a day, he sent them
into his vineyard.
20:3 And he went out about
the third hour, and saw others
standing idle in the
marketplace, |
20:4Â And said unto them; Go
ye also into the vineyard, and
whatsoever is right I will give
you. And they went their way
20:5 Again he went out about
the sixth and ninth hour, and
did likewise. |
20:6Â And about the eleventh
hour he went out, and found
others standing idle, and saith
unto them, Why stand ye
here all the day idle?Â
20:7Â They say unto him,
Because no man hath hired
us. He saith unto them, Go ye
also into the vineyard; and
whatsoever is right, that shall
ye receive. |
 20:8 So when even was
come, the lord of the vineyard
saith unto his steward, Call
the labourers, and give
them their hire, beginning from
the last unto the first. |
 20:9 And when they came
that were hired about the
eleventh hour, they received
every man a penny.Â
20:10Â But when the first came,
they supposed that they
should have received more;
and they likewise received
every man a penny. |
20:11Â And when they had
received it, they murmured
against the goodman of the
house, |
20:12Â Saying, These last have
wrought but one hour, and
thou hast made them equal
unto us, which have borne the
burden and heat of the day. |
20:13Â But he answered one of
them, and said, Friend, I do
thee no wrong: didst not thou
agree with me for a penny?Â
20:14 Take that thine is, and
go thy way: I will give unto this
last, even as unto thee.Â
20:15Â Is it not lawful for me to
do what I will with mine own?
Is thine eye evil, because I am
good?Â
20:16Â So the last shall be first,
and the first last: for many be
called, but few chosen.
20:18Â Behold, we go up to
Jerusalem; and the Son of
man shall be betrayed unto
the chief priests and unto the
scribes, and they shall
condemn him to death,Â
20:19Â And shall deliver him to
the Gentiles to mock, and to
scourge, and to
crucify him: and the third day
he shall rise again.Â
20:21 …, What wilt thou?Â
20:22 …, Ye know not what
ye ask. Are ye able to drink of
the cup that I shall drink of,
and to be baptized with the
baptism that I am baptized
with? |
20:23 …, Ye shall drink
indeed of my cup, and be
baptized with the baptism that
I am baptized with: but to sit
on my right hand, and on my
left, is not mine to give, but it
shall be given to them for
whom it is prepared of my
Father. |
20:25 …, Ye know that the
princes of the Gentiles
exercise dominion over them,
and they that are great
exercise authority upon them.
20:26Â But it shall not be so
among you: but whosoever
will be great among you, let
him be your minister;Â
20:27Â And whosoever will be
chief among you, let him be
your servant:Â
20:28Â Even as the Son of man
came not to be ministered
unto, but to minister, and to
give his life a ransom for
many.Â
20:32 …, What will ye that I
shall do unto you?Â
21:2 …, Go into the village
over against you, and
straightway ye shall find an
ass tied, and a colt with her:
loose them, and
bring them unto me. |
21:3 And if any man say
ought unto you, ye shall say,
The Lord hath need of them;
and straightway he will send
them.
21:13 …, It is written, My
house shall be called the
house of prayer; but ye have
made it a den of thieves.Â
21:16 …, Yea; have ye never
read, Out of the mouth of
babes and sucklings thou hast
perfected praise?
21:19 …, Let no fruit grow on
thee henceforward for ever.Â
21:21 …, Verily I say unto
you, If ye have faith, and
doubt not, ye shall not only do
this which is done to the fig
tree, but also if ye shall say
unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast
into the sea; it shall be done. |
21:22Â And all things,
whatsoever ye shall ask in
prayer, believing, ye shall
receive.
21:24 …, I also will ask you
one thing, which if ye tell me,
I in like wise will tell you by
what authority I do these
things. |
21:25Â The baptism of John,
whence was it? from heaven,
or of men? And they
reasoned with themselves,
saying, If we shall say, From
heaven; he will say unto us,
Why did ye not then believe
him?
21:27 …, Neither tell I you by
what authority I do these
things.
21:28Â But what think ye?
A certain man had two sons;
and he came to the first, and
said, Son, go work to day in
my vineyard. |
21:29Â He answered and said,
I will not: but afterward he
repented, and went.Â
21:30Â And he came to the
second, and said likewise.
And he answered and said,
I go, sir: and went not.Â
21:31Â Whether of them twain
did the will
of his father? …, Verily I say
unto you, That the publicans
and the harlots go into the
kingdom of God before you. |
21:32Â For John came unto you
in the way of righteousness,
and ye believed him not: but
the publicans and the harlots
believed him: and ye, when ye
had seen it, repented not
afterward, that ye might
believe him. |
21:33Â Hear another parable:
There was a certain
householder, which planted a
vineyard, and hedged it round
about, and digged a
winepress in it, and built a
tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a
far country:Â |
21:34Â And when the time of
the fruit drew near, he sent his
servants to the husbandmen,
that they might receive the
fruits of it. |
21:35Â And the husbandmen
took his servants, and beat
one, and killed another, and
stoned another. |
21:36Â Again, he sent other
servants more than the first:
and they did unto them
likewise.Â
21:37Â But last of all he sent
unto them his son, saying,
They will reverence my son.Â
21:38Â But when the
husbandmen saw the son,
they said among themselves,
This is the heir; come, let us
kill him, and let us seize on his
inheritance.Â
21:39Â And they caught him,
and cast him out of the
vineyard, and slew him.Â
21:40Â When the lord therefore
of the vineyard cometh, what
will he do unto those
husbandmen?Â
21:42 …, Did ye never read in
the scriptures, The stone
which the builders rejected,
the same is become the head
of the corner: this is the Lord’s
doing, and it is marvellous in
our eyes? |
21:43Â Therefore say I unto
you, The kingdom of God shall
be taken from you, and given
to a nation bringing forth the
fruits thereof. |
21:44Â And whosoever shall fall
on this stone shall be broken:
but on whomsoever it shall
fall, it will grind him to
powder. |
